Founder of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation, Biondi-Santi produced the first Brunello in history in 1888, by the hands of Ferruccio Biondi Santi. Since then, this fabled estate has ensured the excellency of its wines, known for their extreme longevity, through seven generations.

VINTAGE

The 2017 vintage was warm and dry. During the spring, there was a late frost that was followed by some rainfall. The weather remained rnild until the end of May, which is when the warmer weather arrived, with temperatures above the seasonal average. The surnrner was very hot and dry, which provided good conditions for ripening. The harvest began on September 11th and Biondi-Santi were excited by the potential of the fruit, which retained a certain freshness even though it was a warm year.

TASTING NOTES

This wine is bright ruby red in colour with an intense bouquet of black cherries, pomegranate and blackcurrant, intertwined with delicate hints of Mediterranean herbs and sweet spices. Elegant and distinguished, the palate reveals its impressive structure with textured, soothing tannins and a fresh, fruity core. There is a well- balanced, fragrant acidity that characterises wines from this estate. The finish is long with sweet, fruity notes.
