Montes was established in1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, with the aim to produce the best wines in Chile from the best regions. We have long admired Montes and what they have done for Chilean wine over the past 25 years. Their wines are consistently good because they are meticulous throughout the entire production process.
Grapes were crushed before being transferred to stainless steel tanks. Fermentation followed, lasting for a period of 12 days. Malolactic fermentation followed, lasting over 10 days, during which period the wine was kept in contact with its skins. Following this, 30% of the final blend was transferred to French oak for eight months of barrel ageing.
Deep, ruby red in colour. On the nose, the wine has blackberry and blackcurrant aromas. The palate is medium bodied, with soft tannins, crisp acidity and alingering finish.
