Louis Latour Grand Ardeche Chardonnay is a superb, oaky Chardonnay from outside of Louis Latour’s usual home of Burgundy. The Latour family have long been established in Burgundy’s wine trade.
Louis Latour Grand Ardeche Chardonnay is treated as if it were grown in one of the Grand Cruvineyards of the Côte-d’Or. It is bottled as an Indication Geographique Protegee Ardeche (IGP Ardeche). Fully-ripened grapes are selected and pressed lightly before being aged in oak barrels made at the Latour cooperage in Beaune. The wine undergoes maturation for 8 to 10 months in medium toasted French oak barrels (20% new) with 100% malolactic fermentation. The result is a full-bodied wine that is smooth with notes reminiscent of exotic fruits and vanilla spice imparted by the oak.
