Established in 1731 the company is one of the greatest and most respected names in Burgundy. Acquired by Joseph Henriot in 1995, the last 18 years have seen some very exciting developments in the wine making and quite a remarkable renaissance to the highest levels of quality throughout the whole range of wines. The acquisition of more, mainly premier cru, vineyards including the purchase in 1996 of the superb Ropiteau Mignon domaine in Meursault, means that the Bouchard Pere et Fils domaine is now unique in Burgundy in its range of top quality vineyards. These vineyard holdings, together with the most up-to-date wine making methods, result in world class wines at all levels. Painstaking attention to detail starts in the vineyards - for example the grapes are gathered, by hand of course, in shallow trays allowing the fruit to reach the winery in prime condition. Judicious use of new oak ensures that the wines reflect the terroir from which they come, and show the structure aqnd elegance which distinguishes fine Burgundy from all other wines.
