Producer Notes

Kendall Jackson Family Estates

Kendall Jackson produced their first wine in 1982 and since then have grown from strength to strength.
With large holdings in California, they are said to be the second largest land owner (the largest being the State of California itself!), they also have interests in Chile, Australia, France and Italy.
They produce stunning white and red wines which are remarkably good value. Most famous of all is the Kendall Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay which was the first wine they produced. But not to be ignored are the rest of their range including the single vineyard white chardonnays.

El Coto Wines
The Coto Bodegas started in 1970 and has gone from strength to strength. based in rioja they transferred to a brand new production facility 54 years ago which has seen them take yet another leap forward in quality and consistency.
Mainly producing red wines from Rioja they also produce a rosado and a blanco. More recently they acquired the bodegas of Baron de Ley, Rioja and Museum Real in Cigales, again mainly producing red wines.
Top recommendationa are Baron De Ley Finca Monasterio, Coto de Imaz, said in Sothebys wine encyclopedia to immaculate wines of style and elegance. But dont ignore the Museum crianza from Cigales.

Californian Wines
Despite the scale of Californian wine production, their wines are more about quality than quantity. California Produces some of the world's best Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot noir and Chardonnay. Amongst our Californian wines we feature two highly regarded producers Kendall Jackson and Wente both of which produce excellent red and white wines.

Argentinian Wines
Argentinian wines like its food have their roots in Spain, vines were first planted in 1557 and Argentina is the 5th largest wine producing country and the largest outside Europe. Until relatively recently prodcution was for the home market with few wines being exported but that has changed in recent years.
With production historically being about quantity rather than quality, their wines are an interesting challenge for the conniseur. however there are plenty of gems to be discovered. Malbec grape dominates the red wine production and Torontes and Chardonnay grapes for white wine.
But red wines are not all about Malbec as increasing number of quality wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir can be found.
